Celebrated regional hospitality firm Epicurean Group introduced the opening of a brand new outpost for iconic Peking restaurant Sun Moon Place in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

Known for its experience in Peking delicacies, Sun Moon Place evokes the nostalgia of twentieth century Hong Kong eating. As such, the restaurant’s mission is to revive cherished eating traditions which have sadly pale in recent times so as to reignite the colourful eating tradition of Hong Kong within the Eighties when town noticed a big surge of high-end Peking eating places. 

Epicurean Group’s COO for Chinese delicacies Candice Cheung mentioned: “Most of Hong Kong’s iconic Peking dining institutions have vanished, leading to a significant loss of our unique culinary culture. These historic venues not only celebrated the authentic flavours of Peking cuisine but also represented Hong Kong’s rich culinary heritage. We are committed to reviving these cherished traditions at Sun Moon Place.”

An iconic location

Nestled in Ship Street in Wan Chai on the former website of the Group’s Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant SHIP KEE, the brand new hotspot honours vanishing culinary treasures whereas evoking genuine style recollections, offering a convivial vacation spot for full of life teams of diners searching for scrumptious and reasonably priced Chinese consolation meals.

Occupying 3,500 sq. ft, the restaurant accommodates 110 individuals, with 4 non-public rooms that may be linked for bigger gatherings. Above the hustle and bustle of Wan Chai’s common eating avenue, a retro-styled neon gentle showcasing the artwork of Chinese calligraphy strikingly illuminates the restaurant frontage, nodding to town’s wealthy signage heritage and welcoming all via its doorways.

Inspired by cherished recollections of the colourful Eighties eating scene, the menu is rigorously designed to replicate the vibe of Hong Kong’s heyday, evoking collective recollections and prompting an emotional journey again in time. The menu format is as nostalgic because the cooks’ cooking, comprising nearly 200 basic and must-have dishes. Most are introduced in three sizes to correspond to the kind of gathering: small, medium, and for the liveliest of events, giant.
